How to be an activist was the featured topic of a special meeting held by the American Association of University Women at the Municipal Center. The group gathered to talk about advocacy and how they can be more involved with getting their opinions known to legislators.
Member Jo-An Sabonjian led the discussion by providing information on communicating with the government.
“We have to be vocal and get our opinions known to people who actually have the power to make those changes either through the legislature or other means,” said Sabonjian.
The goal of the over 80-member organization is to advance equity for women and make a change. After the discussion, members of the group learned how to use online resources to contact representatives.
AAUW will be celebrating their 60th anniversary this spring.
