For North Central College, Martin Luther King Junior Day is a time-honored tradition of honoring campus diversity and promoting compassion.

The annual MLK Prayer Breakfast at Wentz Science Center saw many make it out for a motivational morning, even with the snowfall.

Though the musical performance was cancelled, there were still readings from scripture and prayers, and featured speaker David Johnson, a photographer and NCC alum from the class of 2007.

“So the goal is to already be in the habit of loving and serving those around you,” said Johnson in his speech. “And then you’ll be ready when you’re vision comes. Because I think that that idea of a vision, the idea of a dream is something that isn’t just a one person thing, we should all be having visions and dreams.”

He told stories about his experiences growing up in the Chicago area and gave some life advice about pursuing your dreams.
