Vigil to End Gun Violence
Around 40 people gathered tonight at First Congregational United Church of Christ for the vigil to end gun violence.
“Tonight is part of a national effort by the Newtown Alliance and a lot of gun violence prevention allies. It is prompted by the seven-year mark since the Sandy Hook, Connecticut tragedy, the shooting,” said local events lead Shelly Sandstrom.

Moms Demand Action Naperville hosted the remembrance ceremony.
Pastor Mark Winters and two speakers talked about ending violence and how the public can do their part, something attendee Barbara Kopchak believes we need to do.
“I think we have to use our bodies, we have to use our voice, we have to use our selves to help make a difference in the world. And if we just sit by and think about all these things, but not act – nothing’s going to change,” said Barbara Kopchak.
What You Can Do
Sandstrom said one way people can help is by calling their senators. They hope a legislation will be passed to limit high capacity weapons and ban assault weapons.
50 chimes for 50 states. The ringing of the bell was a time to reflect on those who have been affected by gun violence.
