District 204 students got a trip around the world. But this trip took place through the pages of books read in different languages.
It was all part of District 204’s Multicultural Reading Night. Students and families were invited to Still Middle School to read books in several different languages including French, Arabic, Urdu, and Sign Language.
Rafael Seggara, the Director of English Language Learners in District 204 sees the night as an opportunity to encourage diversity in the district.
“The more that we educate our constituents and our public the better that our community becomes and so we need to be able to embrace all of the languages,” said Seggara.
There are roughly 2,000 English language learners throughout District 204.
This is the second year for District 204’s Multicultural Reading Night.
