Residents of Naperville interacted with, Naperville City Council and mayoral candidates in a speed dating style format.
The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event, giving candidates a unique platform to speak with voters.
“We have an abundance of forums where the candidates line up, and their questions that are posed to the candidates they each answer. We wanted to stir it up and do something that was a little bit different,” said Nicki Anderson, president and CEO of NACC.
The 11 city council and two mayoral candidates had five minutes to speak with residents and businesses before rotating to the next table.
The speed dating forum was a nice change of pace.
“There are plenty of forums, people have plenty of those venues to check candidates, but this was something, [a] little bit more intimate. You got to spend some time with people. It was enjoyable. I think the chamber did a great job,” said mayoral candidate Steve Chirico.
“The questions were excellent because we had businesses and residents that had questions that were [about] specific areas of town,” said mayoral candidate Rocky Caylor.
The chamber hopes to continue these types of events in future elections
