If you’ve taken advantage of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday deals over the past few days, consider supporting your local nonprofits with Giving Tuesday.

“Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the YMCA in New York and we have been doing it individually [as] nonprofits in Naperville,” said Barb Brauer, director of development and operations at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation. “And this year it’s very exciting because we’re doing a community campaign.”
Representatives from several area nonprofits gathered at the 5th Avenue Train Station to spread the word.
Their group, Naperville Gives, chalked up the sidewalk at the station and passed out cards encouraging people to participate.
Lots of Nonprofits to Choose From
The day has grown into a worldwide movement that asks those who are able to donate money, time, or other resources to make the world a better place.
“There are a lot of nonprofits in Naperville, over 100, and we all work to serve the community. And so what we wanted to do is to make sure the community knew about the nonprofits and what we’re all doing here,” said Brauer.
