Summer is here! And there’s a new place for kids to play.

The Naperville Park District hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially re-open Heatherstone Park.

Parents watched from the comfort of the shade as kids enjoyed the nearly 9,000-square-foot playground, which includes several new additions.

New Additions to Heatherstone Park

“There’s a 65-foot zip-line that is a unique feature. There’s also a cool inclusive spinner that lets kids sit or stand. Kind of like the modern day merry-go-round,” said Naperville Park District Project Manager Jessica Burgdorf.

The park also features traditional amenities like swings and slides.

How much did Heatherstone Park Cost?

The new construction cost approximately $150,000 and took around two months to build. Park district officials were pleased with their end result.

“It’s great to see the model view of the play equipment turn into the real life and everyone having a lot of fun on the new equipment,” said Burgdorf.

Other Parks Being Renovated?

The park district will be renovating Three Meadows Park later in the summer, and the Jaycees Park after Labor Day.
