Some local athletes recently ran in the 121st Boston Marathon.

Midge Good and Erin Sarris from the Naperville Running Company were just two of many runners from Naperville to compete in the Boston Marathon – a race they feel is one of a kind.

“There’s nothing like Boston, everyone’s excited, everything is blue and yellow and everyone,” said Midge Good. “Because it’s Patriots Day, everyone comes out. So they have the Red Sox game that afternoon, that’s ending when the athletes start to come finish.”

“Yeah, the whole town shuts down, there’s no school that day, so everyone is out there supporting. It’s their holiday,” added Erin Sarris.

The two traveled to Boston with other Naperville runners who they frequently train with.

This was the third time completing the race for both. Erin hopes to return in two years; while Midge is making this her last marathon, but plans to continue running half marathons.

Over 27,000 runners competed in this year’s Boston Marathon.
