The city of Naperville will soon accept applications for more than $2 million in grants for 2027 community projects and services.
The money comes from four programs, including the federal Community Development Block Grant and city-funded grants for Special Events & Community Arts, Social Services and Opioid Remediation.
These grants fund a variety of projects: the CDBG supports housing, community development and infrastructure, SECA assists cultural and artistic initiatives, SSG offers essential social services to residents and the Opioid Remediation grant aims to help efforts to fight the opioid crisis.
Funding the future
Community Grants Manager Miranda Barfuss said in a city press release that she encourages eligible groups to explore these funding opportunities, learn about grant requirements, and apply.
“This is an exciting opportunity for organizations to bring meaningful projects to life,” Barfuss said.
Applicant workshops
The city will hold workshops before the start of the application period, giving interested groups a look into eligibility requirements, funding criteria, the application process and other requirements. Each will be held at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St., at the following times:
- SECA Workshops (Applicant attendance required at one of two)
- Aug. 20, 10 a.m.
- Aug. 24, 6 p.m.
- CDBG, SSG and Opioid Remediation Pre-Application Workshop (Optional)
- Sept. 10, 11 a.m.
Application period and deadlines
The open application period for each program is as follows:
- SECA: Sept. 4 -Oct. 2, noon
- SSG, Opioid Remediation: Sept. 10 – Oct. 9, 5 p.m.
- CDBG: Sept.10 – Oct. 23, 5 p.m.
