After taking on the Iroquois Center last year, District 203 architecture students will be looking to redo portions of the 5th Avenue corridor this year.
To kick off the project, the students gathered in 5th Avenue Station to hear from city leaders, architects and neighbors, helping them understand the impact of their potential designs.
They also got a history lesson on the area and its significance to our town from Naper Settlement’s Bryan Ogg.
In their plans, students will be rethinking how certain portions of city land is used, much of which is currently occupied by parking lots and an old Public Works facility. All proposals are required to have new buildings for people to live, shop, work and play.
The project will conclude with a presentation at the end of April.
