In a close race, incumbent Rachel Ossyra secured her seat as the Republican nominee for Township Supervisor with 52 percent of the votes over challenger Walter Reilly. She’ll now face Democratic nominee Eddie Bedford.
Township Clerk Barry Greenberg also retained his seat taking 71 percent of the vote against newcomer Thomas Laz. Greenberg will now face Democrat Nathanael Sippel.
And out of ten republican trustees, the four moving on are incumbents Paul Santucci, and Karyn Malm and newcomers Heather Bejda and Jim Ruhl. They’ll face off against Democratic nominees Julie Federico, Loretta Burke, Glenn Jones and John Waller in the April 4 general election.
Naperville Township Highway Commissioner Stan Wojtasiak and Assessor Warren Dixon III were uncontested in the Republican primary, but will face Democrats Richard Novinger and write-in candidate Gary Vician, respectively in the general election.
The primary was called due to the high number of Republican candidates vying for a position with the Township. The winning Republican candidates will now face off against Democratic nominees in the April 4 general election.
Around 2,500 people came out to vote in the Township Republican Primary, about a four percent voter turnout.
