The Citizens Appreciate Public Safety, or CAPS Awards were recently held at Meson Sabika, honoring Naperville’s police officers who have gone above and beyond in the line of duty.
After being nominated by members of the community, many officers were recognized for their life-saving efforts and contributions to Naperville.
The final award of the night, the A. George Pradel Award for Service, was given out by Mayor Emeritus Pradel. And this year’s recipient is Detective Kate Koziol, who collected supplies and donated over 200 “Sweet Cases” to children in the foster care system.
“In part of this I just really want to thank all of my co-workers, as well as the Naperville community for coming together and helping me to exceed my fundraising goal, making this contribution to Our Children’s Homestead possible. Obviously this cause is near and dear to my heart. Together we were able to help many children have something to call their own. So thank you very much, it’s a big honor,” said Detective Koziol.
There’s also a CAPS Awards ceremony for Naperville firefighters and paramedics held in the fall.
