Gas prices heading into Memorial Day weekend are on the decline.
“Week over week prices in Illinois declined about seven cents, here in Naperville it’s the same story,” said AAA Spokesperson Beth Mosher. “$2.28 is the average around town. That’s less that it was a week ago, less than it was a month ago and for the first time in a long time, less than it was even a year ago.”
Prices are also expected to be similar as the summer continues thanks to a high supply of gas and low oil prices.
Before traveling for the summer, Mosher recommends getting your car tuned up now by checking things like your oil levels, battery and tire pressure.
Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend are two of the busiest travel times in the country.
