The first Thursday of May was the National Day of Prayer and as thousands celebrated around the country, Naperville joined in too.
Nearly 100 people came out for DuPage County’s observance of the annual day at the Municipal Center, to pray for our nation.
“Well this is a time for everybody to come together, to pray for our country. The theme this year is unity. We need to be together. We can be together, we can be unified but have diversity at the same time.”
Pastors and community leaders prayed for eight different areas in our country: military, government, education, business, churches, media, families, and America.
Musical performances and readings from scripture were also part of the observance.
President Harry Truman signed the National Day of Prayer into law in 1952.
