Naperville Central High School students returned to class for the 2010-2011 school year but to quite a new-and-improved campus.

District 203 officials invested nearly $90-million into much-needed renovations at the 60-year-old school. Among them: larger classrooms with smart board, wider and brighter hallways, improved science labs, and a new gymnasium.

Outside, the school’s football field also got brand new synthetic turf.

Many students and staff found the most impressive additions to be the expanded cafeteria with giant monitor to broadcast school announcements and an interactive touch-screen map to help navigate the bigger building.

During the following year, crews continued work with a three-story addition at the north entrance and finishing the math and music classrooms.
