At the last planning and zoning meeting, the commission approved Pulte Home Company’s request for the rezoning of a parcel of land on Plank Road from light industrial to multifamily residential, allowing the development of a new subdivision, Columbia Park Townes.
The new subdivision, which will feature 35 three to four story townhomes, will replace the metal and concrete industrial buildings currently on the site, and fit the look of the surrounding residential area.
“This is how we need to do infill,” said Planning and Zoning Commissioner Steve Peterson. “There’s going to be a lot more infill coming to Naperville and this is how we have to do it, where we look around and think about how it impacts the area around it.”
The developer has also suggested slowing down traffic on Plank Road and adding a sidewalk to reach the nearby train station.
The parcel, which is currently a part of unincorporated DuPage County, faces an annexation vote at a coming City Council meeting.
