The Naperville Area Humane Society is running a new event for a ‘paw-fect’ cause.

In the fall, the humane society will host their first ever “Paws for Tales 5K Run/Walk,” raising money for their Paws for Tales reading program.

“Paws for Tales is a program where certified dog and human volunteers go into schools and kids that are having trouble with reading or need a little extra help can read with the dogs,” said Humane Education Manager for the Naperville Area Humane Society, Kristen Funk.

Taking place on September 16, 2017 the dog and kid-friendly 5K goes through Springbrook Prairie, on a non-timed course.

All funds raised through this walk will be used to purchase books and other materials for the Paws for Tales program. Currently there are 36 dogs that travel to around 50 different schools, helping kids grow confident in reading.

Registration is now open, and can be done through the Naperville Area Humane Society’s website.
