The commission voted to approve construction of the high-tech park, featuring high speed Wi-Fi, tables, shaded areas, and electrical outlets – power for which will be supplied by solar panels to be installed on city hall’s roof.

The “smart park” is intended for use as an outdoor workspace, where local businesses could hold their meetings, professionals can work, or students could study.

The park is projected to cost $400,000 and is being funded entirely by private donations – the largest of which came from the Naperville Jaycees who donated $200,000 for naming rights.

The next steps for the Smart Park to pass before construction can begin are approval by the park district and City Council.
