Schuyler Bailar is the first openly transgender athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA Division I men’s team, and now he’s coming to Naperville to share his story. Bailar is speaking tonight at Naperville Central High School, and Tuesday evening at Metea Valley High School. He will discuss his decision to transition before starting college at Harvard after a successful high school swimming career.
The appearances were made possible through District 204’s Parent Diversity Advisory Council, who, after setting up the Metea event, reached out to Naperville School District 203, which was able to set up an event as well. Both appearances are free, but you can register for tonight’s event at EventCombo, or for next Tuesday’s talk at the Facebook page of the Parent Diversity Advisory Council.
