Security Breach Impacts Thousands of Naperville Students

A security breach has exposed the personal information of more than 50,000 past and present Naperville area students.

Pearson Clinical Assessment recently informed Naperville Community Unit School District 203 and Indian Prairie School District 204 that the company experienced a data security breach.

The company says its AIMSweb 1.0 product was breached by an unauthorized third party.

Both school districts use AIMSweb 1.0 to track student academic progress.

According to Pearson, the student data was limited to first and last names and in some cases, date of birth. The data had been collected from 2001 to 2016 involving more than 50 thousand students.

IPSD 204 reports 2,300 staff members’ first and last names as well as school email addresses were part of the incident.
