Seniors needing a check on their home’s safety can get just that through a new service the Naperville Fire Department is now offering.
About the Surveys
The department’s free home safety surveys will bring firefighter/paramedics to your home to check for fire and fall hazards.
“I think it’s great because our senior population is at risk for fire hazards and for tripping hazards, medical emergencies,” explained Firefighter/Paramedic Anthony White. “So to come out here before any of this stuff happens is great because it actually prevents us from coming here in the future in a true emergency.”
The free inspections are for those 65 and over and living independently.
The Impact on Homeowners
“Whenever I have an opportunity to broaden my knowledge and pass it on to other people, that is one of my goals in life,” explained homeowner Rosalie Eiler who participated in an inspection.
Those who participate in the survey will also get a free fire department goodie bag.
To sign up for their schedule you may call (630) 305-7055 or email mclaughlins@naperville.il.us.
