Seussical the musical joins classic Dr. Seuss characters on a journey of friendship, acceptance, and loyalty, and it’s headlining the Naperville Park District’s Magical Starlight Theater.

The cast brings together a wide age group who’ve been rehearsing since the beginning of November.

“This is one of the only places that I’ve gotten to really work with all aspects of life,” said Brett Baleskie, who plays Horton. “People who are really involved in theater, people who don’t do any theater, teachers, stay-at-home moms, fourth grade kids, we’ve got grandmas, we’ve got grandpas. It’s a huge mix of people from all different walks of life.”

The family-friendly show follows Horton the elephant, some Whos from Whoville, the Cat in the Hat, and many other Seuss characters throughout the Jungle of Nool.

“You can be an audience person, you go to see a great musical, you end up leaving singing one of the songs. So there’s this residual ‘I’m still a part of it, I’m still in that moment,” said Director and Producer Kris Visher.

Visher, along with others involved with the show, have been a part of Magical Starlight’s musicals for many years with loads of talent to show for it.

“The costumes, the properties, our props team, who painted these books that you see behind me, they pay such an incredible attention to detail, and then it extends to our orchestra, it extends to our light designer, our sound designer, there’s just so many people involved that are so talented and skilled,” said Tim Ray, the production and stage manager.

And they’ll show that work off at Naperville Central High School, starting Friday, January 13th.

Performance date and times for Seussical, The Musical can be found on Naperville Park District’s website.
