If you’re looking to create that farm-to-table experience in your own home, the St. John’s Farmers Market is the place to go.

Fresh produce, local honey, delicious snacks, and more were available at the market’s opening day.

Shoppers got the chance to peruse the wide variety of vendors that have kept the market open now into its seventh year.

“I like it a lot,” said Anthony Urso, a first-time shopper at the farmers market. “I bought some fruit, sampled some coffee. It was all very good, very fresh, so I’ll definitely want to come back.”

All for a Good Cause

While the vendors keep the full profits of what they sell, St. John’s does give their proceeds to local charities.

“The money that we raise is paid to us by the vendors for rent on their space,” said Bob Turner, a greeter at the market. “We’ve rented out all the spaces for the year. And we take that money and it goes to our outreach board and then we go through a list of charities, generally Christian-based to some degree, and we disburse that money to those charities.”

Stop by any Wednesday between 3 and 7 p.m., weather permitting. You might even get a free sample of some of their delicious offerings!

Plenty of Farmers Market Options

If you can’t make it out to the St. John’s Farmers Market on a Wednesday, Naperville’s two other farmers markets open soon. The 95th Street Market runs on Thursdays and the 5th Avenue Market is open on Saturdays.
