At the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce’s latest luncheon, speakers from Will County explained the bright future that lies ahead for residents in terms of economic growth and future opportunities.
Some of that growth will come in the form of jobs, as Amazon is now the largest employer in the County with two locations, and the area is the largest inland port in North America.
“Between December 2015 and 2016 we saw over 8,000 new jobs come into the County. We’ve averaged between 7-8,000 new jobs, and this is net, a year for the past four years. So we have come out of the recession very nicely,” said John Greuling, President & CEO of the Will County Center for Economic Development.
Also coming up for Will County, some changes in terms of capital projects.
The County’s courthouse will be redesigned, and they’ll also build a new sheriff’s department in addition to some road-work; all projects that have a positive outlook thanks to the County’s strong finances.
“We bonded for $175 million, but we received $205 million because the bond buyers paid us a premium for our bonds. That’s how highly rated we are in the market. So I want you to know Will County is in good financial shape,” said James Moustis, Will County Board Speaker.
Naperville is the third largest population in Will County.
