April is Autism Awareness Month, and people can show their support by taking a test drive.

Turning Pointe Autism Awareness Event

Participating car dealerships in Naperville are teaming up with Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, giving the non-profit $20 for each test drive until the rest of the month.

“It means a lot to them, it means a lot to our organization for the families that are affected by it,” said Shannon Garofalo, the internet director at Toyota of Naperville. “But, the mere fact it can help with any type of supplies that they might need at the therapeutic day school or any other facility they might have.”

This is the ninth year of the event, and each year over $100,000 has been raised through the test drives. The proceeds help Turning Pointe fund their educational programs for people on the spectrum.

“People don’t even know ‘How can I help?’ come in for a test drive it’s free you don’t have to do anything,” said Garofalo. “So, there’s a lot of great that’s done by coming in for something that’s free.”

Turning Pointe and local car dealerships will join forces again in the fall for Naperville’s fourth annual pumpkin race.
