The twelfth annual Veggie Fest is back in Lisle, as thousands of veggie lovers gathered for two days of vegetarian and vegan fare.
“Veggie Fest is on it’s way, it’s ready, it’s going, it’s happening. Today is our first day, we opened up at 11:00 and the people are pouring in. We’re one of the largest vegetarian food and lifestyle festivals here in North America,” said Jonathan Kruger, Co-Event Organizer.
Visitors to the fest can try out free samples of new products from international and local vendors, and learn about vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.
“At Veggie Fest here, it’s wonderful. There’s so much good food and tons of free samples, love them. I recommend trying all the food and try as much free samples as you can,” said first time attendee, Alexa Glidic.
“What we are doing here today is providing educational material for people that are interested in adopting a vegetarian or vegan diet and providing resources and recipes,” said Executive Director of Chicago Vegan Mania, Sandi Swiss.
The festival offers a wide range of activities for children and families as well as live entertainment and music to enjoy while eating in the food court.
“It’s been amazing, there’s so many food stands and free stuff, and there’s all this stuff you can do. Totally a must-see. Veggie Fest rocks,” said first time attendee, Alexis.
Veggie Fest continues Sunday, August 13th from 11:00am to 8:00pm.
