Following the mass shooting in Las Vegas killing 59 people, some Naperville groups are calling for action.

More than 50 people gathered at the Naperville Riverwalk for prayer, a song, and a moment of silence to honor the victims

Naperville Councilwoman Becky Anderson said now is the time for action on gun control.

“We can’t be safe in so many places. People are so afraid, and they shouldn’t be. They absolutely should not be,” said Anderson.

Naperville Central sophomore Lindsay Powell was in class the day after the Las Vegas mass shooting when an unloaded handgun was found on her high school campus.

“You don’t want to walk down your street, go into the restaurant with your family and somebody mug you because they have a gun and that’s the power. When they have that gun in their hand, they have that power, and you can’t take that power away from them, because they know that one bullet is all it takes,” said Powell.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense Naperville and Moms Building Bridges hosted the event.
