Non Conference boys volleyball with the 11-2 Bartlett hawks traveling to Benet Academy who sit 3 and 8 on the young season.
First Set
Benet leading in the first set, Bartlett resets and sends a free ball over midrally, Sean Becker gets it to Matthew Degnan who sets up Augie Mazza for the kil. Benet up 5-1.
Bartlett getting tricky down one, Carter Burzlaff who the quick awareness to get the tip and the point. Set tied at 10.
First set coming to a close with Bartlett having set point. Benet fighting to keep the game alive but Burzlaff again, with the heads up move, finding the open space for the hawks to win the first set 25-22.
Second Set
Bartlett on a run to open up the second set, Carter Burzlaff with the ace pushed the hawks lead up 7-0.
Bartlett still leading later in the set, Carter Burzlaff sets up Garret Jurina for the kill, 10-5.
Benet trying to make the comeback. Matthew Degnan sets up Augie Mazza for the kill that goes off the Bartlett D, Redwings trailing by 3.
Benet still trailing by 3, a good serve from Sean Becker catches the hawks out of position and they have to reset. Benet’s Matthew Degnan then sets up Andrew Rogers for the kill. Wings down 2.
Carter Burzlaff still working that second hit over scheme… he strikes again with the sneaky tip for Bartlett to extend their lead 22-17.
Benet hanging on, matthew Degnan sets up Mazza for the kill that he floats off the defenders to tie the game at 23.
We get a little extra volleyball, but Bartlett ends the second set at Burzlaff sets up Martin Radomski for the kill and the hawks survive a scare at the end to beat benet in straight sets.
