Matt Maschmeier and North coming off a narrow loss at home against Benet, and now get powerhouse Batavia, who the Huskies loss to last year, 41-24.

First Half

Opening quarter, no score – Huskies dialing up Lontrez Duckworth’s number out of the backfield… but the junior coughs up the rock. Bulldogs pounce.

Turning defense into offense, Batavia’s Devin Cheney catches a bullet from Kyle Oroni to take a 7-0 lead with 5:28 to go in the first quarter.

Unable to move the ball offensively, North cues up a trick play. Maschmeier, who does punt, takes the snap and carries it for the first down – though the drive would stall.

Second quarter, Batavia up 14-0 now… and make that 21-nothing. Quinn Urwiler breaks through the North defense to get us to our halftime score – 21-0 Bulldogs.

Second Half

Second half sees a renewed tenacity on defense for Naperville North, with Cole Loebig the first man in there to shut down the ground game.

So, question is, can the offense pick it up? Pressure up the middle forces Anthony Gabrione to throw it up… and Batavia picks him off. Evan Kopf on the interception.

Late third quarter, Quinn Urwiler able to cut up field and into the endzone – Batavia goes on to top the Huskies by a 35-7 score. North now 0-2.
