Championship game at Naperville Central of the Tip Off Tournament with Benet Academy facing off against Naperville Central. The redhawks come in to this game undefeated and so do the redwings, who beat Bartlett yesterday.
First Half
Naperville Central in the lead early in the first quarter and they extend that as Karly Mada hits her second straight three to open up scoring, 6-2.
But it doesn’t take long for the wings to respond. Game tied at 9s a few minutes later and Kendall Moriarty takes her time before hitting the triple for the wings to take the lead 12-9.
Still in the first quarter and the hawks having trouble getting the shot to fall as Benet’s Molly Sheehan steals the ball and runs the court and then gets the lay up. Wings excelling, 16-9.
In to the second quarter and Central’s Gaby Melby goes up for the shot, it’s no good but the rebound hinds Aditi Prasad who hits the three points to keep central in it, trailing 21-15.
Benet responds though, still in the second quarter, Lindsey Rodgers, wide open at the top of the arch drains the three pointer. Redwings lead 39-18 at halftime.
Second Half
Benet still hot coming out of the break. Kendall Moriarty hits a 3 off the inbound play. Central goes to bring it in under the basket and Benet’s press proves postitive as the newest member of the 1000 point club Brook Schramek gets the steal and lay up to go. BA leads 48-20
Still in the third quarter and Allison Forney joins in on the Benet scoring fun as she gets the hook to hit for 2 of her 13 points on the night. Wings up 61-20.
Fourth quarter and the hawks can’t stop Benet Academy from rolling. Lenne Beaumont hits the triple as the wings cruise past Naperville Central for the Tip of Tournament win 72-23.
