A really windy day in Naperville as Benet Academy visits Nolan Clifford and Neuqua Valley on a day that will definitely favor hitters.
First Inning
Scoreless in the bottom of the 1st. Mitch Rokosz hits one up into the wind. The ball carries to the warning track and drops in between a pair of Redwings. Rokosz cruises into the 2nd with a double
Rokosz steals 3rd and then Ethan Schreier lines one to left field. It gets caught, but Rokosz comes in to score to put the Wildcats up 1-0.
The Redwings aren’t having much luck at the plate as Casey Pickering strikes out Jack Hlavin to end the inning.
Second Inning
Bottom of the 2nd Matt Hill leads off and lays down a bunt. The captain of the hockey team beats it out for the bunt single and that ignites a big inning for Neuqua.
Bases loaded now for Nolan Clifford and he launches the ball deep to right center field. No doubt about this one is it is long gone for the grand slam and the Wildcats now lead 5-0.
Neuqua not done in the 2nd. Justin Blazek hammers one down the left field line and that brings Ethan Schreier around to score making it 6-0
2 outs now and Nick Taylor skies a pop up behind 2nd base, but the wind is playing tricks on the Benet infielders and the ball falls on the edge of the outfield grass. Justin Blazek scores from 2nd and NV leads 7-0 heading to the 3rd.
Third Inning
Benet needs to get something going quickly. Aaron Staehely lines a single up the middle to try and start a rally
Bases loaded now with 2 outs and Colin Gorz at the plate. But Gorz innocently bounces out to 2nd base to end the threat.
Fourth Inning
Justin Blazek comes up with a man on in the bottom of the 4th and once again we have lift off. Blazek gets it up in the jet stream and the ball carries out for a 2 run homer as the Wildcats cruise to a 10-0 win on their home field.
