Benet Academy visits Neuqua Valley in some… not ideal weather conditions in late April…
Second Quarter
Picking it up in the second quarter, Benet with an 8-5 lead. Neuqua’s Ben Foy with the ball behind the net, he gets aggressive on a defender and finally shakes him off before going top shelf.
Under three minutes left in the second, BA up 8-7. Alex Panozzo drives and hits Ethan Stonie right in front of the net for the goal. 9-7.
30 left until the break, after a caiden perry goal he then goes back to work and launches one from 15 yards out to knot the game up at 9s at halftime.
Third Quarter
Coming out of the break, Benet’s Kyle Bollman with some trickery behind the net. He hits Ethan Stonis knocking on the door step for Benet to regain the 10-9 lead.
Minute later and conditions are getting worse. Dan Curtis fights off a few defenders and then goes to the reliable Caiden Perry for his 5th goal of the game to re-tie it at 10s.
On the ensuing faceoff Ethan Camba wins it and races down the field. He passes it off to Bollman who sends a laser into the back of the net. Benet up 11-10.
Let’s just remind you that it’s late April as the snow and sleet continues to poor down. Neuqua’s Dan Curtis fighting through it to the front of the net to tie the game up again at the end of the third at 11.
Fourth Quarter
To the fourth and Neuqua’s Matt Quinn with the ball. He draws the defense and hits Caiden Perry for his 6th goal of the game for Neuqua to take the lead 12-11.
5 minutes left in the game and the Wildcats lose track of Hunter Randolph and he bounces the ball into the wide open net, wings tie it up again at 12.
Late in the fourth, Caiden Perry chases down a loose ball. He gets a nice angle towards the goal but fools everyone by dropping it off for Sam Schink. He buries it to give the Wildcats the lead for good as they improve to 9-3 with a big win in miserable conditions.
