Benet Academy visits Waubonsie Valley for non conference baseball. Both teams feature some high powered offenses. Warriors are looking to snap a 4 game losing streak.
Benet leading 1-0 in the top of the third with a runner at second. Ben Wright hits a single to center to bring in Connor Hincks. Wright moves to 2nd on the throw home.
Next Batter up to the plate is Colin Gorz.. line drive to center field for him, bringing in Wright. Redwings lead 4-0 heading to the bottom of the inning.
Waubonsie’s turn at the plate. Cole Gregorio, he gets some power and rockets one to right field, falls behind the fence for a 2 run homer.
Still the bottom of the first with a runner at third, Thomas Rinenbach shoots the gap and it rolls, RBI double to left for him, WV trailing by just 1 heading to the second.
Redwings up to the plate again in the third with a runner at first. Aaron Staehley knocks a double to left center to put runners at 2 and 3 with no outs.
Two batters later, Ben Wright knocks one to the grass bringing in 2 runs, Benet up 6-3 now.
Bottom of the second now with a runner at 2n. Cole Gregorio singles to center to bring in Vincent Rullo, Waubonsie down 2.
Next batter, and you hear this one off the bat, Will Jaynes flies one out to center. Aaron Staehely has trouble tracking it down allowing Ivan Wong to score. Waubonsie tries it up at 6s at the end of the second.
Bottom of the third, bases loaded and Cole Gregorio is having himself a day… steps up the plate and has the left fielder running…. Behind the fence it goes for the grand slam, Waubosie now leads 10-6.
Top of the fifth, Benet’s Dolan Glasgow doubles to right center bringing in Cam Holquist. 3 hits on the day for Glasgow as Benet trails by 3.
Bottom of the sixth and Waubonsie’s Will Cullen seals the deal with the sac fly out to right to bring in Thomas Ringenbach… Waubonsie ends their losing streak in a big way, taking the win 13-9.
