This Month’s Team Profile features the Benet Academy Girls Soccer Team, presented by Molly Maids of the Aurora Naperville Area.

Senior Heavy Roster

Benet Academy has a lot of seniors that have taken the field together the past four years. Nicole Burns comments on the starters, “I think what’s good about our team is we have a super good bond, we have a lot of experience on the team. I think there are 7 girls that have been playing for four years and a couple other juniors have been playing for 3 so I think our bond is super important.”

A bond that is very important… but also not completely closed off… seeing that sophomore Jaimee Cibulka joined the team this year from club and is already one of the top contributors.

“We had a couple girls that have played the wing spot very well in the past few years and I think Jamie does it just as well as any of them, she is very unselfish with the ball, she knows when to pass it when to take on defenders so just having another skilled player on the team is a great addition,” Burns says.

What Are Team Goals?

No matter if you’re a new addition or a four-year varsity starter, every Redwing seems to have the same goals.

Senior Goal Keeper Eva Frantzen comments on goals, “Especially since I am not playing in college I really would like to make it to state for our first time and just accomplish all our goals, break the shut out record, break the win record again, I just really want to make it to state. States really important. “

“This is my final year so we are super determined to win state and we haven’t won conference since freshman year so that’s pushing us and there’s a bunch of other people in my position and we really want to win state,” Burns adds.

How Will They Achieve Them?

Achieving those record breaking feats won’t be easy, but luckily the girls have a coach who doesn’t sugar coat the obstacles the team faces.

“The halftime talks are really important because he’s really good at telling us what we are doing wrong, he isn’t afraid, they don’t soften it. They are really good at telling us what we do wrong and I think we are good at correcting it,” Frantzen says.

And the Redwings are off to a good start, they sit 9 and 1 on the year with just under a month left of regular season action before their post run begins.
