Singles time at the DuPage Valley Conference Badminton meet at Naperville North.
#1 Singles
We start first with the #1 Singles championship match with North’s Bhaavya Manikonda against Waubonsie’s Sonu Monoharan.
The top two competitros in the DVC and they show it here with a crazy rally. The huskies gets the point after a nicely placed corner shot helping her win set one 21-14.
In the second set Manoharan gets one in the corner to get the point.
But the sophomore huskie proves to be too much. She gets the quick reaction to take the top spot 21-14, 21-14.
#2 Singles
We now go to final match in the #2 singles with Neuqua Helen Zhao against Metea’s Sophia Wang.
The Wildcat takes the first set after a nice backhand and then drop shot at the net, 21-17.
Second set and more of the same. Zhao hits a rocket and Wang tries to get it to stay in but it goes out for Zhoe to win the 2nd set and the #2 champion spot.
#3 Singles
3rd singles now with Centrals Kathy Zheng against Norths Stephanie Liang. After dropping the first set, the Redhawk gets things going and gets the point forcing a third set 21-14.
In the third set Liang with the rocket past Zheng to win in third sets 21-14, 21-14, 21-16. Despite that Huskie victory, Neuqua Valley would win the DVC plaque with 52 points. North and Central tie for second.
