Metea Valley the host school for the Dupage Valley Conference girls golf championship at Phillips Park in Aurora. Lots of senior linksters playing in their final DVC meet on a very warm October day.
13th Hole
On the 13th hole, Neuqua Valley sophomore Sarah Zheng sitting just outside the fairway, a fantastic chip lands close to the pin. That leads to a two putt and a par for Zheng and a round of 74 on the day.
Same hole and Naperville North senior Emma Lin drains the mid range putt to save par and keep the Huskie captain near the top of the leaderboard.
Also on 13 and last year’s DVC runner up Emma Lim of Naperville Central sinks this par putt. Lim once again amongst the leaders in the tournament.
Neuqua Valley with a strong team performance thanks to great scores from players like Isabelle Wu and Lanette Choi. Choi taps in this putt and scores an 82 while Isabelle Wu gets a 77.
14th Hole
On to the 14th hole and Emma Lin with a great drive to get close to the green, then lands this chip just a couple feet from the hole. She would go on to birdie from there and finish in 2nd place with a round of 74.
16th Hole
16th hole and Abby Terada from the host Mustangs chipping from the front fringe and it doesn’t get much better than this, the ball roll inches from the cup, leaving a gimmie tap in. Terada with a team best 46 on the back 9.
Naperville North looking for its third consecutive DVC plaque and shots like this from senior Emily Nay will help, just a little too much speed as she hits the cup but can’t get it to fall in. Nay taps in for par and a score of 81.
17th Hole
Hannah Martin from the tee box on 17, she finds the dance floor with a great shot about 15 feet from the pin, leading to a par and a final score of 76.
Naperville Central senior Neha Vinesh going for par on 17 and gets the roll around the rim. Vinesh takes 5th overall with a 76 while the Redhawks finish in 3rd as a team.
Waubonsie Valley senior Emily Skowronski in a tough spot in the greenside bunker, but a brilliant sand shot flops down a few feet from the pin, where Skowronski hits for par and a 4th place score of 75.
Emma Lim with the lead heading into the final holes and after losing the DVC crown last year in a playoff hole, the Central senior removes all doubt with a great drive and a par. Lim wins with a one under 71 while North wins the team title, as nearly 20 seniors say farewell to the DVC.
