The Glenbard West boys golf sectional comes to Village Links in Glen Ellyn, and sectional golf means the viewing galleries get bigger!

Hinsdale Central always a contender for the state title, the Red Devils advance to state once again after finishing in 2nd as a team. Thomas Clark with a great putt as leads the team with a 78.

6th Hole

Naperville Central competing in the sectional as a team, Brian Izzo on the 6th hole with a great fairway shot that sets up a par. Redhawks finish in 8th place as a team to end another strong season.

Neuqua Valley sophomore Alec Cross with a fantastic chip over a pair of bunkers to set up a par. Cross ends his round with an 80, and will make the trip to state for the first time as the lone Wildcat representative.

3rd Hole

On the third hole Waubonsie Valley senior Will Troy with a near perfect chip for birdie that hits the pin before bouncing away. The regional champ in the top of the leaderboard once again.

9th Hole

9th hole and Metea Valley senior Scott Madland ends his round with a tough birdie putt. Despite a solid round, the Mustang misses the cut by a single stroke after shooting an 82.

12th Hole

Over to the 12th hole another Mustang in the sectional is Aman Shah, who gets a great shot from the sand to set up a par opportunity. The sophomore’s breakout season comes to a close after a round of 87.

If you’ve seen his edition of 1 on 1 with Allie, you shouldn’t be surprised that Jacob Fritz is great at chipping. This one rolls just past the pin and sets up an easy putt for par, one of 15 on the day for the Warrior senior, who punches his ticket back to state after a round of 78.

9th Hole

9th hole and Metea Valley sophomore Arjun Vyan comes centimeters away from chipping in for birdie. He can’t believe it, but the good news is the round of 79 is good enough to send the Mustang to state for the first time.

Still on the 9th hole and Parker Mullen from Naperville North keeps the near chip in for birdie party rolling. The shot hits the pin and sets up a par as the Huskie senior will head to state for the first time in his career.

Will Troy of Waubonsie wants more of the near chip in for birdie action, and he delivers. After tapping in for par, Troy secures a tie for 2nd with a 78 and another trip downstate.

Glenbard West wins the sectional led by a brilliant round of 72 from John Wild. Geneva advances as well in third, Neuqua Valley finishes 6th, Naperville Central 8th and Waubonsie Valley 9th.
