Boys Gymnmastics Sectional at Glenbrook North with the hosts as the favorite. Michael Baren of Neuqua is back and he brought a teammate while Waubonsie and Metea both have individuals. Naperville North and Central also made the trip as a team.
High Bar
Wildcat Michael Baren starting us off on the High Bar. He works up some momentum and pulls off a release and switching around before continuing his performance. Little later for the dismount he charges up for a double lay out racking in an 8.8 which is good enough for 2nd place.
Vault
Central’s Jeremy Venegas going down the run way for vault. He pulls off the back tuck scoring a 7.9 which was not enough to qualify for state but it was his season best.
Metea’s individual freshman Zach Taylor’s turn on the vault. He pulls off the layout with a good landing for a 9.2 which lands him in fourth place and he becomes the first boys gymnastic from Metea to qualify for state.
Still on vault and another layout with Michael Hunter Junior. He grabs a 9.3 for his skill which lands him in 3rd.
Michael Baren running down the runway for vault now. He rocks out a full twisting layout for a massive 9.65 score and first place.
Floor
We move over to floor now with Huskie Michael Hunter Jr. Performing his famous standing buck tuck to the toes and then the press up… solid handstand. Little later he does a round off back handspring one and a half helping him to an 8.8 score.
Parallel Bars
New comer Neuqua freshman Tyler Clark’s turn on the parallel bars. He shows off his strength, flexibility and balance as he holds his skills. For the dismount he gets the half twist landing him in 5th place with 8.75 points.
Glenbrook North’s Cam Hardagree really showing off his abilities and getting his team pumped up on the parallel bars Double back tuck for the dismount with an 8.95 score. Hardagree finishes in 2nd in the all around.
Third in the all around would be Neuqua’s own Michael Baren. The individual on the parallel bars grabs a 9.2 score after his double back tuck dismount helping him to a total of 53.2 points total.
Sectional Champions
Top marks on the day though would go to Glenbrook North as they grab 157.65 points and the sectional plaque.
