We get a rematch of the Hinsdale South Sectional Final game from last year with #8th seeded Hinsdale Central looking to avenge last years three set loss to 2 seeded Neuqua Valley.

First Set

Neuqua in control of the first set early on. Gabe Scharosch gets the kill to push their lead up 5-3.

This game was very evenly matched and you can see it in these saves to keep the point alive as Gavin Schwarz gets his arm there in time, cats go for the block but it flies off their hands and out for the Red Devils to tie the game up at 11.

Another longer rally in store as Hinsdale holds the one point lead. We get a lot of typical volleyball with pass, set attempt but both teams defenses are ready for it until Neuqua’s Scharosch gets up at the net for the solo block to tie the game at 18.

But Neuqua would pull ahead and take the first set as Tom Blankschein gets the solo block and then the cats watch the ball hit outside the lines, taking game one, 25-23.

Second Set

Hinsdale Central with an early lead in set two as Neuqua gets a second chance off a red devil block. Kevin Kauling sets up Ryan McGladdery who paints the back court for the cats to tie the game up at 6.

But Hinsdale Central takes a large lead, looking to push the match to a third set as Luke Vozenilek gets the put down, 17-11 Hinsdale leads.

Hinsdale Central just seemed to react better in the second set as Zachary Urbanski gets the kill for the Red Devils, 25-19, pushing this game to a decisive third set.

Third Set

Midway through the final set, Kevin Kauling showing off his height, gets up at the net for the big block as the cats lead 13-10.

But Hinsdale regains the lead and then extends it… almost being able to taste the state tournament as Cal Snyder gets up at the net to slam the over passed ball, 23-16.

The Red Devils would be able to pull off the upset over Neuuqua Valley as on set point, the ball gets knocked out by the wildcats… bringing the Hinsdale Central fan base rushing to the court to celebrate as they avenge last years loss and make the trip to the state quarterfinals against Glenbard West.
