Opening round of sectional boys water polo as the 10 seed Hinsdale South plays at 7th seeded Waubonsie Valley. The Warriors topped the Hornets 12-8 when they matched up a month ago.
First Quarter
Hornets up 1-0 near the end of the first quarter, Jack Zielinski finds captain Joshua Ceh who waits for his moment before firing home the equalizer. 1-1 game after the first.
Hinsdale South on the attack as Jack Yurkovich comes up with the long pass and swims ahead to put the Hornets back on top 2-1.
Second Quater
Later in the 2nd quarter, Dallys Dorsey with a lefty shot into the top corner to tie the game again at two.
Near the end of the quarter, Joshua Ceh with another opportunity and he bounces a shot home to give the Warriors their first lead.
Hinsdale South won’t go away as Joe Ofenloch taps home a nice pass to tie the game heading into halftime.
Third Quarter
Early in the third, WV comes out firing, Joey Censullo and Joshua Ceh go back and forth leading to a goal from Censullo, 4-3 Warriors.
Moments later, goalie Vignesh Sundaresan with a great pass ahead to Dallys Dorsey, who spins and fires home his second goal, Waubonsie up by two.
Waubonsie really clicking offensively now as Jack Zielinski gets in on the fun with his first goal, 6-3 WV.
Four goals for the Warriors in the third quarter as Ryan Ruhde takes the pass from Yehia El Touny and puts home the goal, 7-4 Waubonsie leads after three quarters.
Fourth Quarter
Hornets inch closer in the forth on an impressive sniper shot from distance courtesy of Matt Krauz. Hinsdale South down 8-5.
Great defense from Waubonsie all game as Vignesh Sundaresan keeps the lead at a comfortable margin with another save late in the contest.
Waubonsie Valley finally puts the game away with Joshua Ceh’s 4th goal of the game. The Warriors advance to face Neuqua Valley in the sectional quarterfinals after a 10-6 win.
