Cowbells, Towels and cheers are out for the Chicago Blackhawks High School Hockey rivalry series at Seven Bridges Ice Arena. The matchup features Providence Catholic who comes in at 9-8 taking on undefeated and two time defending Kennedy Cup champions Benet Academy. Redwings took care of the Celtics earlier this season in a 3-1 affair.This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.

First Period

PC looks to get on the board early. The lose puck finds Emiliano Arana who spins ands puts the baby in the back of the net. The early goal gives the Celtics a 1-0 lead not even a minute into the contest.

Second Period

2nd period as Benet looks for the tie. Gabe Szopinski chases the puck on a breakaway but Providence goalie Luke Brzezinski stops the attempt keeping the goose egg on the board.

 

Now it’s the Celtics turn for a breakaway. Here is Arana again in a one on one with Benet’s Ryan Farago. Number 28 shoots but Redwing goalie Will Janus is there for the save. Providence keeps their 1-0 lead heading into the third period.

Third Period

We are in that final stanza as the Benet defense clears the puck that fortunately finds a streaking Curtis Sperling on a breakaway. Here is his attempt and he win’s the one on one opportunity. It’s a 1 all tie.

 

So what can Provi do for a response? Emiliano Arana snags the puck and makes his second goal look so easy. Just like that the Green and White regain the lead 2-1.

 

Time ticking down on Benet as the Celtic defense clears and the puck and here is Arana again this time cruising for the empty netter that results in a hat trick on the night. It’s a 3-1 PC lead and the fans celebrate the goal throwing their towels on the ice.

 

However the Wings are not quite done yet. Tommy Budreck passes the puck Ryan Farago who scores to cut the deficit to 3-2. Is it 2019-2020 Kennedy Cup Championship déjà vu for the Celtics?

 

Last chance for Benet with Curtis Sperling in a one on one but Brzezinski makes the save once again keeping the bad memory out of the net. Providence Catholic walks out of seven bridges with a 3-2 victory.
