One of the first big Cross Country races of the year, The Hornet Red Devil Invite. At the start, lots of teams looking to get in good position including Naperville Central, Neuqua Valley, and Metea Valley. Also in attendance, the top runner in the sate, Katelynn Hart, running for Glenbard West.
The Race
At the first mile, the pack is still pretty thick with Hart leading the way.
Mile two and Katelynn Hart has quite a lead, followed behind by Ava Parekh from the ltin School.. Little while later Metea’s Sophia Sandy and Neuqua’s Maria Widman pass in a group.
Just before the final turn, Hinsdale Central’s Emma Watcke and Samantha Poglitsch finds themselves keeping pass with eachother.
Results
And what do you know, Katelyn Hart coming up the fill to cross the finish line in first in 16 minutes and 28.7 seconds.
Sophia’s Sandy from Metea Valley finishes just before Maria Widmann in 10th and 11th. Sandy just one second faster in 18 minutes and 41 seconds. Naperville Central’s Emily Scott would be the first Redhawk to cross in 19 minutes and 13 point 7 seconds.
