Benet Academy in the 2A sectional finals at Romeoville High School after the game was moved from Burlington Central against Lemont. Benet defeated Sycamore high school 2-nil to get here while lemont beat Kaneland in a close 1-0 match.
First Half
First half action and Lemont with the free kick with nothing on the board. They attempt to get on the board first but Vito Staniskis grabs the ball out of the air to stop the threat.
22 minutes left until halftime, Tom Miskin and Zach Serafin team up as Serfin goes on the diagonal and finds twine to get the redwings on the board 1-0.
Lemont looking to respond but again, Staniskis tracks the ball nicely and grabs the shot before it falls into the goal.
Five minutes on the clock until halftime and Trent McVey doubles the wings lead. No assist needed as he avoids the defense and then finds twine. 2-0 benet going into the locker room.
Second Half
Beginning of the second half and Lemont using a corner kick to stay in the game but this time Conor Perkins blocks the shot and clears the ball to stop the threat.
2 minutes into the second half and Chris Mankowski providing the assist to Hans Haenicke who boots in Benet’s third goal of the game.
17 minutes left in the game, and Nico Augustyn with the free kick. He gets it to riccoquete off of the post and leaves an opening for Mike Fernandes to just tap it in for Benet’s fourth goal, 4-nil Benet.
Lemont’s last chance, charging down field but Staniskis rushes out and slides the ball away to seal the Benet Academy victory, 4-0. The wings move on to the Super Sectionals against Notre Dame.
