Waubonsie Valley opening up their season hosting the warriors from Lincoln-Way West who sit 1-0 on the season after defeating Bishop McNamara.
First Half
West starting off strong, Tara Gugliuzza grabbing the rebound and feeds the ball to sister Taylor who knocks down the triple. She grabs the first 8 points of the game as west leads 8-0.
Waubonsie Valley trailing later in the first. Lauren McKnight looking down court and heaves the pass to Ahniya Melton who gets the short basket to fall. WV trailing 11-6.
In to the second quarter and warriors still trying to cut into LWs lead. McKnight with the assist to Mykah Berkompas who nails the three. WV trails by 10.
Lincoln-way still pushing though. Brianna Woolridge kicks the ball out to freshman Ava Gugliuzza… this family seems to be fire from behind the three point line. West leading 32-14.
Second Half
Coming out of the intermission, WV with a little fire. Off the inbound, it’s quick and easy to Halle Williams who knocks down the three pointer. West still leading 46-29.
Williams will do it again, as the third quarter winds down, she takes the wide open shot and lands it. Williams ends with 15 points on the night as bonsie trails 59-41.
But Lincoln-Way West would just be too much for Waubonsie, specifically those Gugliuzzas. Ava gets the feed from her sister and lands the three to put this game on ice, LWW wins 76-60.
