It’s the first meet for Metea Valley and it’s at home as they host DeKalb and Naperville Central. Both of those teams already opened up their season with one meet apiece.
The Swim Meet
First race we start off with is the 200 yard medley relay. It’s a tight race between Naperville Central and Metea Valley coming to the wall but Metea taps in first in 1 minute 42 point 24 seconds.
We keep the distance for the 200 freestyle with DeKalbs Gavin Anderson grabbing the lead early on. He mantains it as he taps the wall in 1 minute 49 point 42 seconds.
Next off the blocks is the 200 yard IM. Naperville Centrals Quinten Sanders and Metea’s Henri Merchand are neck and neck halfway through the race but Sanders catches a breakaway and taps in first for Central in 2 minutes, twenty point 18 seconds.
Fastest race of the night belongs to the 50 free. Nearly all the lanes are even going out but caming back, mustang Jeddrick Gamillia taps in 22 point 97 seconds to take the top spot.
We start in the water for the back stroke and Naperville Central’s Goncalo Wanzeler gets about a half body length as a lead and never lets it go as he taps in55 point 13 seconds for another redhawk first place.
We round this race out with the final race of the night, the 400 yard freestyle relay. It’s anybody’s race off the blocks but Naperville Centrals lane four beats the rest of the pack with a five second lead in 3 minutes 22 point 28 seconds. Which helps Naperville Central take the cake on the tri-meet with 503 points.
