Girls Track and Field sectional at Metea Valley. Riley Ammenhauser enters as the favorite to win a pair of field events for Neuqua while Wuabonsie and Metea are also in attendance.

Field Events

And we start with Ammenhauser in the long jump. She hits 18 feet 4 and 3 quarter inches for the longest jump sending her to state.

We now move over to pole vault with Neuqua’s Sithara Gajapala. She clears 11 feet 3 inches to take first in the event and advance to state.

We move over to triple jump with Elise Storoe of Neuqua…. She leaps 32 feet, 2 inches to finish 4th and qualify for the big dace.

After her comes Ammenhauser again in her best event. She jumps 40 feet one inch to take first. Out of the 9 sectionals that took place today, Ammenhausert is the only one to clear 40 feet.

Running Events

Now we move to the track with the 4 by 100 meter with Neuqua and Waubonsie competing. At the final handoff it’s West Aurora led by a former waubonsie Warrior, Dajour Miles pulling ahead of Ammenhauser and cruising to the win.

Now to the 100 meter dash. It’s a close race all the way to the finish. Waubonsie’s Itzel Garcia and DeKalb;s Sydney Dumas are neck and neck but the warrior pulls out the win by 15 tenths of a second in 12.60 seconds.

Sun officially has set with the 400 meter. Neuqua’s MiKenna Robinson and West Aurora’s Dajour Miles are the top 2 seeds. In the final streth, Miles is able to pull ahead to finish in 55.23 seconds but Robinson does qualify for state as well.

Final race coming around the bend, the 200 meter and it’s the same story as the 400, Robinson against Miles. They are neck and neck but miles gets the better of the two but again, both qualify for the blue oval. West Aurora takes home the sectional title with Neuqua finishing in second.
