After opening the season with a pair of loss, Metea Valley taking the long journey to St. Louis to take on Belleville East. Lancers also 0-2.

First Quarter

First quarter,  Metea Valley sophomore QB Logan Frederick complete a past to electric running back CJ Wilcox – a size able pick up – and a first down

But the drive stalls as Frederick is swarmed in the pocket. The Mustang signal called going down for the sack.

Lancers knocking on the door of a score – and Belleville East dialing up running back Jeremy Schooler – he takes the plunge from one yard out – 7-0.

Metea looking to respond. Handoff goes to Wilcox, who wiggles free and takes it up the sideline for a loooong gain.

Second Quarter

New quarter, but same drive – Logan Frederick takes the snap, looks left and puts a little air under it – he finds Jalen Johnson – and the duo putting the game into a 7-7 tie.

Belleville East going for the fake punt on their next drive, but Max Barton shuts it down – turnover on downs.

And Wilcox makes them pay, finding a crack on the right side of the line – takes it in from 8 yards out. MV up 14-7 with under 5 minutes to go in the half.

John Parpet and his coaching staff getting aggressive before the half – but the onside kick fails – and the Lancers get it to 14-10

Third Quarter

Third quarter now, Jeremy Schooler finds an alley… and takes it to the house! A 67 yard touchdown run puts the Lancers up 17-14.

But, unfortunately for the Lancers, Wilcox is still on the Metea Valley roster… and is still doing his thing. Another touchdown – MV up 21-17.

Fourth Quarter

Mustangs trying to tack on in the fourth quarter, but get turned away at the goal line – it stays 21-17.

So can the Metea defense pony up and lock it down? They get pressure, but Lancer quarterback Lucas Maue escapes the pocket and picks up the chains with the feet.

4 seconds left… so here it comes – Maue rolls left and heaves it up……..

And it’s incomplete! Mustangs hang on, winning 21-17 – moving to 2-1. First win under John Parpet.
