After striking out the first two batters of the game, Benet pitcher Megan Seranko runs into trouble with two outs as Moira Danko drops a single into right center field to score Nia Lewis and Madi Pfeiffer. 2-0 Mustangs in the first.

The Redwings respond in the bottom half of the inning with two out magic of their own as catcher Mackenzie Relihan drops a pop up single on the line in right to tie the game at two after one inning of play.

The next batter is Samantha Schilf, who drives in courtesy runner Torrie Blasko with an RBI groundout. Redwings take their first lead 5-4 heading to the 4th.

Fourth Inning

Two on two out top of the 4th and Madi Pfeiffer punches a single into right, the throw from Katie Bastuga is just a little late, as is the throw home as Libby Eichberger scores to tie the game at 5.

After a Moira Danko single to load the bases, freshman pitcher Nevaeh Cruz helps her own cause with a single that Bridget Linders can’t quite haul in. Pfeiffer and Emily Finger score as Metea retakes the lead 7-5.

Again the Redwings have a response in the bottom of the 4th, runners on 2nd and third for Elena Stevenson who lifts sac fly to Morgan Bond, Katie Bastuga scores as does Grace Fajardo who races in from second as the throw gets away. We are tied once again 7-7 after 4.

Fifth Inning

Top of the 5th two on with two outs as Emily Finger lines one to center, Grace Fajardo can’t make the diving catch, Nicole Orloff and Rissa Bajusz both score. Mustangs back in front 9 to 7.

Final

Despite a combined 9 errors from each team, Metea uses defense to put the game away as Rissa Bajusz with the great stretch to dig out the throw from Moira Danko. She gets up a little gingerly but with a smile on her face as the Mustangs hang on for a 9 to 7 victory.
