The 4th seeded Porters of Lockport hosting the 6 seed Metea Valley in the regional final. The Mustangs despite being underdogs, hope to extend their regional championship streak to 5.

First Half

The Porters with an early goal, looking to add to their 1-0 lead but the free kick from Sarah Matuszek is offline to keep the lead at one.

Under ten minutes to play in the first half, Ella Johnson with a nice move and shot, but you can see the ball clearly hit the raised arm of a Lockport defender. The whistle blows and the Mustangs get a free kick.

It’s senior Kiley McKee with the kick and look at the knuckling action on this ball as Reagan Tompkins can’t hang onto the ball, we’re all tied up 1-1!

Just a few minutes later and MV is on the attack again, Katy Flanders taps the ball ahead to Jocelyn Grabow who makes a great move to get around the goalie and find the net! In a blink the Mustangs are leading 2-1 heading into halftime.

Second Half

Early in the second half, Porters looking to tie with a free kick with Sarah Matuszek but Metea goalie Nikki Coryell dives on the ball to keep her team in front.

Metea looking to build on its lead as Alexa Grassi uses a give and go with Kayla Hurst to create a shot, but Reagan Tompkins cuts off the angle as the shot stays wide right.

Under 30 seconds to play, last chance for Lockport, Sarah Matuszek with another free kick, but the Mustangs clear the ball out to preserve the victory! Five straight regional plaques for Metea Valley who advance to play Naperville North in the sectional semi finals.
