It’s mom’s night and a DVC opener at Naperville Central. The redhawks welcome Metea Valley in to their gym who is still in search of their first win.
First Half
It doesn’t seem to look that way though as the mustangs open up scoring in a big way with Myles Leavy dropping the three pointer.
Naperville Central is quick to respond at they take the lead with three minutes left in the first quarter. Cam Daughtery all alone sinks the triple. Hawks lead 9-5.
Still in the first and Naperville Central extending their lead as Aidan Kramer kicks the ball out to Kyle Baskin who takes his time for the three pointer. Central now leads 12-5.
In to the second quarter and Metea trying to catch up as Leavy, again hits a big three pointer to cut in to the lead, trailing by 10.
Central, and specifically, Baskin, continuing the fun as he gets the lay up to go as the Redhawks start to pull away in the second quarter, leading 25-10.
And it doesn’t stop there. Matthew Murphy feeds Chris Conway down low, he takes a power dribble and gets up and puts the ball away. Hawks up 30-10 now.
Mustangs still putting up a fight underneath the basket, Tahj Morgan goes up strong and gets the basket and the and on. Metea trails 42-17 at the break.
Second Half
In to the third quarter and Baskin still having fun beyond the arch. He takes his time and nails another three pointer. A big night for the junior with 27 points.
Metea not going away though, on the next possession, Kymari McBride goes for the lay in and gets the and one, metea still trailing 51-23.
But the redhawks would prove to be too much in this one. Baskin, again, all alone for another three as the Redhawks grab the big DVC victory, 72-34.
